Susana's book talk

Dear Mum and Dad this is my book talk.
I want to show this with you because
I think doing the book talks
in the library was pretty important
for my learning and I want to show
you also since I'm a librarian I
think it's important to know

how to express emotion through
movement.

I want to share this piece of learning with you because learning how to express emotion
through a piece of text is challenging and in this snapshot of learning,
I was learning how to do that.

Every Monday Room 12 goes into the library to do a book talk. A book talk is when you
read a book and you use your voice to entertain the listeners. also using a lot of movement
and changing in your voice can make the listener more entertained. Also in a book talk using
a lot of expressions and movement is good for the readers not to get bored. The learning I've
found out doing the book talk so far is yeah you can read a book normal to a group of kids but
to really get the kids involved and really excited about reading using different voices for different

characters and maybe if it says "we were walking through mud" you can maybe use the
motions of your legs to represent that also if you really want the kids to really love reading
stand up so your voice is heard more and don't hold back if it has exclamation marks. If you
really want the kids to be engaged don't hold back on anything in reading if you think you
should shout a word out do it.

my next steps are to not puff myself on just one piece of text
I need to remember that it's not only one piece text
that I am reading.
My key competencies were participating and contributing
because at the start of the lessons I wasn't keen on
putting myself out there and using my voice to make the
texts more powerful.
